Chill Art Zine Collaboration
What is a Zine?
A zine (pronounced zeen) is an independently or self-published booklet, often created by physically cutting and gluing text and images together onto a master flat for photocopying, but it is also common to produce the master by typing and formatting pages on a computer. The publication is usually folded and stapled. Zines are the product of either a single person or of a very small group, and are popularly photocopied into physical prints for circulation.
The zines below are thematic projects divided up by the collaboration of the Tuesday morning group (left) and Tuesday afternoon group (right).

Abstract Canvas Paintings
THE CHALLENGE: Randomly draw a verb (e.g. skip, jump, release, bounce) from a hat and construct an abstract canvas painting based on your verb.
THE CHALLENGE: Using mixed media, construct a shadow box with a theme of your choice.
A shadow box is an enclosed display case containing an object or objects presented in a thematic grouping with artistic or personal significance. The grouping of the objects and the depth effect created by their relative heights from the backing creates a dramatic visual result.
